The government will reunite, in a special meeting, on Sunday, to approve the emergency ordinance that provides for the equivalence of the oral exams from the Baccalaureate with the grades during high school, the elimination of the national assessment in the 6th grade and the classroom inspection from the exam of tenure. If the education unions accept the executive's new offer by then, the normative act containing the salary increase and the promised premiums will be adopted in the same meeting.

Reporter - Andrei Serban: At the negotiations at the Victoria Palace, the Government leadership made a new proposal to the education unions, namely, a 45% increase in salaries from January 1, 2024 and from this year until 2027, on every October 5, when it is the International Day of Education, 1.500 lei will be awarded. It will be established in the next period whether this money will be received by both teachers and non-teaching staff and whether it can be used for any expenses or only for didactic materials. This new proposal will be presented to union members, as stated by Marius Nistor, from the Federation of Education Unions:

Marius Nistor: It is a first in Romania, when, in fact, the employees of the pre-university education units have a word to say in the negotiations that take place with the Executive. We will convey to them everything that was discussed at the Government and categorically, they will make an appropriate decision.

Reporter - Andrei Serban: The union leaders also stated that they will talk quickly with their members and will soon announce whether the strike will continue or end.

The Government's new offer was made, while over 10.000 education employees were marching through the Capital between Victoria Palace and Cotroceni, after three weeks of strike in education.
