Government approves 2025-2026 school scholarship methodology

The executive approved in Thursday's meeting, by government decision, the methodology for granting scholarships in state pre-university education, with the exception of students from military high schools.
The amount needed to grant scholarships this year is estimated at over 4 billion lei. Andrei Serban read the document and comes with details.
Reporter: The Ministry of Education will grant four types of scholarships: merit scholarships, worth 450 lei per month, these are granted to a percentage of up to 15% of the total number of students in each gymnasium and high school class, with an overall average of at least 9. These scholarships will also be granted for performances in national and international school olympiads and competitions.
Eligibility criteria for each type of scholarship
Social scholarships are in the amount of 300 lei per month and are granted to students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, vulnerable groups or with special medical situations and are aimed at preventing school dropout.
Technological scholarships are also 300 lei per month and will be received by students in vocational and technological education, who pass all subjects with a very good grade and who obtained an average of 10 in behavior in the previous school year. Scholarships for minor mothers, in the amount of 700 lei per month, will be granted to students who have returned to school after giving birth.
Payment of scholarships is made monthly by educational institutions by the 20th of each month, for the previous month, except for September, which is paid in October.
