George Simion and Nicusor Dan in the second round of the presidential elections, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority

The candidate of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians Alliance, George Simion, and the independent Nicusor Dan have entered the second round for the Cotroceni seat, according to data published in real time by the Permanent Electoral Authority.

After centralising 99.99 per cent of the ballots in the country and 99.79 per cent of those in the diaspora, George Simion is in first place with 40.94 per cent of the votes and Nicusor Dan in second place with 20.99.

The candidate of the Romania Forward electoral alliance, Crin Antonescu, got 20.09%.

Independent candidate Victor Ponta came fourth with 13.06 per cent.

Elena Lasconi, Lavinia Sandru, Daniel Funeriu, Vasile Terhes, Sebastian Constantin Popescu, John Ion Banu Muscel and Silviu Predoiu were in the next places, in order.

The turnout in Romania was 53.21%.

973.129 Romanians in the diaspora voted in the presidential elections.

They had three days and 965 polling stations to cast their vote.
