Education unions threaten street protests if the prime minister does not reverse the measures taken in the education system. Simion Hancescu, president of the Federation of Free Education Unions, said that the opening of the school year could take place, for the first time in Romania in the last 35 years, in front of the Victoria Palace, the Cotroceni Palace, and the Prefectures, in protest because the Government "completely neglects" education for a very small financial stake.
The union leader said that almost 30.000 people from Bucharest and across the country are expected to participate in this protest.
