Draft emergency ordinance amending the Law on the Arms and Ammunition Regime

The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed yesterday a draft emergency ordinance to amend the Law on the Arms and Ammunition Regime. The document expands the list of persons who will not be allowed to purchase weapons.

In addition to those guilty of acts of violence, the ban will also cover those who consume or traffic drugs and psychoactive substances, those who illegally import or export military items, those guilty of acts of terrorism, and those who use hunting firearms illegally. The new changes will also apply to foreigners living in Romania. The draft will be submitted to the government for approval.
