There are only a few days left until the official inauguration of Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport. On Thursday, June 15, shortly after 8:00 a.m., the first landing of an air race is scheduled on the runway of the only airport built from scratch in Romania after the Revolution.

This weekend is the "Open Days" at the airport, during which the public can enjoy guided tours, an air show, concerts and a fireworks display.

The reporters from Radio Romania Brasov FM said that thousands of people already went to Ghimbav to admire the airport, an objective much awaited by the locals.

- Extraordinary, sir. Well, after so many bitter years, we have an airport as well.

- For me, it's very, very nice to see, after such a long wait.

- We like it, let's see how it will work.

Ghimbav airport is the first in Romania with a control tower operated remotely with the help of several video cameras.

Meanwhile, the traffic to the airport became very congested. Many people from Brasov went to visit it in their personal cars, although the local transport operator supplemented the buses connecting Brasov and Ghimbav. Incidentally, in Livada Postei station in the municipality, hundreds of people waited in line to get a seat on the buses on the line leading to Ghimbav Airport.
