The Ministry of Investment and European Projects launched a project to promote 12 cultural tourist routes in the country, part of the "Attractive Romania" programme, which aims to make lesser-known attractions visible.
The route of castles, wooden and fortified churches, the route of villages with traditional architecture, fortresses and monasteries in the Moldavian area are some of the routes along which the objectives will be found and for which road signposting infrastructure, digital multimedia content and online information and promotion platforms will be created.
The project, worth €8 million from the NRRP, is coordinated by Undersecretary of State Razvan Popescu.
Razvan Popescu: The "Attractive Romania" programme is a step towards rediscovering and enhancing our history and culture from a tourism perspective. This project is structured in three main actions: the creation of a promotional website and a mobile application generically called "Attractive Romania", the design of multimedia content for 275 cultural tourism objectives and, lastly, the mapping of the objectives included in the 12 cultural-tourist routes. The project brings to light places and customs long forgotten, some even unknown, facilitating access to them in a manner adapted to today's needs.
Many of the sites can be visited, others have undergone or are undergoing rehabilitation or restoration.
The presentation of the 12 cultural tourism routes and details of the 275 sites can be found on the online platform "Romania Atractiva", which also has an English version.
