The situation of Romanian citizens stranded in the area bordering Iran, due to the conflict in the region, was analyzed at the Government by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and some cabinet ministers.
Romanian authorities have decided that they will focus their efforts on safely bringing Romanians in risk areas back home.
This very evening, Romanian citizens who were on Israeli territory will arrive in Bucharest, aboard two aircraft coming from Egypt.
They were transported by land to Egypt, and in the following period, other flights will be organized to bring pilgrims and other Romanian citizens who requested consular support back home.
The necessary preparations are also being made for the repatriation of Romanian citizens in other Middle Eastern states affected by the war.
Children and medical cases will be given priority.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also discuss with representatives of the airlines to bring Romanians home safely. Also, Romania, together with other EU member states, will activate the European Civil Mechanism.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu will hold a press conference on the security situation in the Middle East.
