15 people were evacuated on Monday from the village of Plauru in Tulcea County. The preventive measure was decided by the County Committee for Emergency Situations after a ship loaded with LPG on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube was hit by a Russian drone last night.
For more information, RRA correspondent Luiza Rosetti reports: "In the first RO-ALERT message received last night, residents of northern Tulcea County were urged to take shelter in safe places in light of the Russian Federation's drone attack against Ukraine.
In the second message, sent at 11:37 a.m., the population of the village of Plauru was warned of the imminent danger of an explosion on board a ship hit by a Russian drone. The message urges locals to evacuate the area within a 2 km radius.
Cristina Profir, spokesperson for the Delta Emergency Situations Inspectorate: The measure will remain in place until any risk to the population has been eliminated. At around 11:37 a.m., a RO-ALERT message was also issued warning of an imminent explosion, urging the population to comply with the measures imposed by the authorities and not to transit the area.
Approximately 15 people and animals were evacuated. The evacuees were relocated to the neighboring town of Ceatalchioi, in spaces provided by local authorities. The Local Emergency Committee and the County Emergency Committee were also convened. Local authorities are on site and are constantly monitoring the situation. If requested, we will be able to intervene with a multi-role vessel in support of the Ukrainian authorities.
This is the first time that the people of Plauru village in Tulcea have received two messages in such a short period of time, and it is also the first time that the inhabitants of the same village have had to evacuate the area."
