The population of the municipality of Campina, the towns of Breaza, Baicoi, Moreni and the 10 affected communes could have tap water again by the end of this week, not only on Monday, as previously announced, but these estimates have changed several times since the crisis began.
While people continue to carry water for drinking or household needs, institutions explain their actions and decisions, but the issue has also become the subject of heated political disputes in Bucharest, including in the Senate Economic, Industries and Services Committee, where representatives of the authorities with responsibilities in this case were invited today.
Reporter: The Economic Committee meeting began with procedural disputes between USR and PSD parliamentarians, which then turned into noisy exchanges of accusations between the two parties. At the end of the approximately three-hour meeting, the PSD senators' group leader, Daniel Zamfir, requested the intervention of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
Daniel Zamfir: Ms. Buzoianu and the president of Romanian Waters must urgently leave office. It is no longer just the decision of the minister to resign, it is the responsibility of Prime Minister Bolojan to urgently dismiss the minister.
In response, the USR senators' leader, Stefan Palarie, accused that a show was held at the Economic Commission and that a political moment was wanted.
Stefan Palarie: I saw that Mr. Zamfir is less interested in solutions, in what we tried to find out through discussion with those involved in this problem, and rather has an obsession with political resignations, which he does not hide.
Invited to the Economic Commission, the representative of the National Administration of Romanian Waters, Sorin Rindasu: We are between a rock and a hard place regarding the safety of the dam and the second risk identified is, obviously, that of interruption of the water supply.
Over 100.000 inhabitants of Prahova and Dambovita counties are affected by the lack of tap water.
