US Embassy donates almost 100 thousand dollars to restore a wooden church in Maramures

The U.S. Embassy is donating $95.000 to restore a 16th century wooden church at the Maramures Museum in Sighetu Marmatiei.

The church was donated to the town of Oncesti by a community of Ukrainians from Transcarpathia and later purchased by the museum.

The presentation ceremony of the restoration project was attended by the US Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Romania Ihor Prokopchuk, local authorities and specialists.
