The value of the point per service in specialized outpatient care will increase to 8 lei from the beginning of next year, after being set at 6.5 lei on January 1, 2026.
The president of the National Health Insurance House, Horatiu Moldovan, told Radio Romania Targu Mures that he expects spending to become more efficient and outpatient care to be prioritized, so that performance will lead to a decrease in the number of hospital admissions.
Horatiu Moldovan: This is not a matter for discussion or union negotiation. We are not discussing this with you, our colleagues in specialist outpatient care, in these terms. You are absolutely right, but I expect results from you, so that with the new IT platform, i.e., by this summer, we will be able to identify some quality indicators, some activity indicators, and some performance indicators from the new Health Insurance IT Platform.
The president of the National Health Insurance House also said that if a client no longer goes to the hospital, several thousand lei can be saved, money that can be used to pay performance-based incentives to doctors in specialized outpatient clinics and family doctors.
At the end of last year, the Professional Association of Outpatient Doctors criticized the government for delaying the promised increase of the point to 8 lei from one year to the next.
