The Senate has adopted, as the first forum, the framework of digital competences for Romanian citizens, approved by the executive through an emergency ordinance. The new regulations ensure increased external competitiveness and develop employees' skills to use digital technologies.
The senators approved several amendments to the document initiated by the government, which grants new powers and duties to the Romanian Digitization Authority.
Thus, the institution will be the single point of contact in relations with European representatives for the Digital Europe program. It will also coordinate the digitization policy programme at national level.
These measures correspond to the requirements expressed by the European Commission - emphasized Social Democrat Mircea Nicula:
Mircea Nicula: It prevents the risk of an infringement procedure, protects the funds from the NRRP and other sources of European funds and professionalizes the technical dialogue with the European Commission and other Member States.
USR Senator Eugen Negoi welcomes the proposals which increase Romanian citizens' chances of employment, but condemns the slow pace of implementation:
Eugen Negoi: It will allow self-assessment and identification of training needs of 100.000 Romanians. However, we cannot avoid noticing significant delays in the implementation of these provisions.
The draft law will be sent for debate and vote to the Chamber of Deputies, which is the decision-making body.
