The law that modifies the retirement age and the amount of magistrates' pensions was promulgated by the President of Romania, after the decision of the Constitutional Court on the validation of the reform initially contested by the Supreme Court was published in the Official Gazette.
"It is a gesture of fairness expected by society", Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook. On the other hand, he conveyed to the magistrates that their work is respected and recognized.
The European Commission is to announce, in mid-March, what decision it has taken regarding the release of the 230 million euros for Romania, the payment of which was delayed due to the postponement of the reforms. After Thursday's discussions in Brussels, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said that he is confident that Romania will receive most of this money.
