The biggest book fair in Transylvania - Gaudeamus Radio Romania - starts on Wednesday in Cluj-Napoca.

Now in its 23rd edition, the event returns to the city's Union Square, following a tradition of almost two decades.

The official opening of the edition will take place at 12:00, but more details can be found in RRA correspondent Claudiu Padurean's report.

In Cluj's Union Square, famous for its gothic and baroque ensembles, 16 pavilions are set up, hosting 60 stands with 85 publishers.

The fair offers books, music and educational games. There are several thousand titles in Romanian, international languages and those of national minorities living in Romania.

In all, more than 40 book launches and presentations are scheduled, as well as meetings between writers and readers.

-Launch of the book "Naraton" by the late writer Cornel Udrea

The first book launch is a special one and is scheduled for 12:30.

It is the launch of the book "Naraton", organized by Radio Romania Cluj and the publishing house Scoala Ardeleana.

The volume was written by the late writer Cornel Udrea, who was one of the golden voices of Cluj public radio and who passed away a few days ago.

For reading enthusiasts who can't make it to Union Square in Cluj-Napoca, the official gaudeamus.ro website offers virtual stands, live events broadcast from the venue and up-to-date information on publishing news, offers and special projects of the participants.
