President Nicusor Dan has said he shares society's concerns about the functioning of the justice system. He assured, in a message on the X network, that within constitutional limits he will act to defend the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law.
The problems reported in the public sphere are serious, but they can be solved, the president wrote before leaving for Finland for the Helsinki summit of the Eastern Bloc states.
"For Romania to be a state respected externally, it must first and foremost have correct, credible and functional institutions internally. The two objectives are not mutually exclusive, but mutually supportive", says the head of state.
Nicusor Dan invited the magistrates to discussions, without time limit, on Monday, December 22nd at 10 am. Until then, the president expects materials on the problems in the system from all those interested in participating in next week's meeting.
Over the past five days, thousands of people have protested, night after night, in Bucharest and other cities across the country, following the publication of the documentary "Captured Justice", made by Recorder.
