Romanian President in Austria: Discussions on bilateral cooperation and regional challenges

Romanian President Nicusor Dan met with Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker on Saturday during his official visit to Austria.
The discussions focused on bilateral economic cooperation, but also addressed a number of current issues in international politics. RRA correspondent Andrei Serban reported from Salzburg.
Reporter: Romanian President Nicusor Dan expressed his appreciation for the contribution of Austrian capital to the development of the Romanian economy.
At regional level, the two discussed how to capitalize on the potential offered by the Danube, both in terms of transport and connectivity and from the perspective of Ukraine's reconstruction.
Support for the Republic of Moldova
The Romanian president and the Austrian chancellor also discussed the importance of continued support for the Republic of Moldova, including through political, financial, and technical support.
They also expressed their firm support for advancing the process of European Union enlargement in the Western Balkans, considered essential for regional stability.
Investment opportunities in Romania
The second component of the visit was economic. Nicusor Dan presented to Austrian industrialists the opportunities that Romania offers for investment.
Natural gas from the Black Sea, as well as the development and further cooperation in the banking sector, are some of the areas mentioned by the Romanian president.
He also referred to a problem faced by Austrian businesspeople, namely the lack of manpower.
Romania has a highly skilled workforce that can help the Austrian economy grow, said Nicusor Dan.
