Last night, mountaineer Adrian Ahritculesei reached Mount Vinson, at 4.892 meters, the highest peak in Antarctica.
He is making this ascent as part of the 'Seven Summits' Circuit, in which he has set himself the goal of climbing the seven highest mountains in the world.
Adrian Ahritculesei sent a message announcing his success at around 10 p.m. (Romanian time).
This is the sixth peak conquered by the athlete from Petrosani in the 'Seven Summits' Circuit, and he only has the highest peak in North America left to climb, Mount McKinley (6.194 meters), located in Alaska.
He attempted to climb McKinley last summer, but was forced to return to base camp due to extremely difficult weather conditions.
Mountaineer Adrian Ahritculesei, 42, known for conquering Everest and the seven highest volcanoes in the world, left for Antarctica at the end of last year.
He told Radio Romania News at the time that he had been preparing for this expedition for several months, using much of the same equipment he had used in Alaska, where he faced temperatures of minus 33 degrees Celsius.
After completing the 7 Volcanoes Circuit in January 2023, Adrian Ahritculesei became the first man in Romania to achieve such a feat.
