The leaders of France, Great Britain, and Ukraine signed a declaration of intent in Paris regarding the deployment of a multinational force as a security guarantee for Ukraine after a ceasefire is reached.
Such a document will discourage further aggression against Ukraine and provide assurances that the country will not be forced to surrender, and that any peace agreement will not be violated in the future, the heads of state and government of the Coalition of the Will stated.
Present at the Paris summit, President Nicusor Dan said that the military document defined by European leaders specifies how security guarantees will be exercised and who will coordinate efforts.
The members of the Coalition of the Will emphasized in Paris their commitment to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, stating that they are prepared to engage in a guarantee system that will be activated once a ceasefire comes into force.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked each state that wants to be part of a peaceful solution and said that the documents adopted demonstrate the determination to work for real security.
President Nicusor Dan also stated that during the meeting in Paris he attended, a military document was defined that sets out how security guarantees for Ukraine will be exercised.
Nicusor Dan: It sets out the responsibilities that each of the participants in this coalition assumes and who coordinates each of the guarantee elements. Very importantly, the United States is part of these security guarantees, proof that there is a transatlantic partnership and a message of unity and deterrence to Russia. The head of state explained that the document approved at the Coalition of the Will meeting will be passed through Parliament so that it does not remain a mere declaration of intent. He also specified that Romania will not send troops to Ukraine.
