Romania wants to produce, in collaboration with the United States, ammunition for American Abrams tanks and artillery.
The US Embassy in Bucharest welcomed the signing by the Romanian Minister of Economy of two documents aimed at exploring ways in which the two countries can strengthen their defense production capabilities.
The signed documents refer to the potential co-production of both NATO standard 155 mm artillery shells and NATO 120 mm tank ammunition.
These projects are supported by a $920 million foreign military financing loan granted last September by the US State Department.
