For approximately two hours, several hundred protesters demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Superior Council of Magistracy in the capital, against the situation in the Romanian judicial system, after the publication of the Recorder investigation "Captured Justice".
They demanded the resignation of Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu, former Minister of Justice, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Lia Savonea, and the leadership of the Supreme Judicial Council. RRA reporter Iulian Olescu recorded it.
Reporter: What made you take to the streets this evening?
-: Disgust. I felt sick watching the documentary. Expectations are zero, but democracy forces us to take to the streets. The important thing is to decouple the judiciary from the political mafia, which currently controls it.
What expectations do you have as a result of this protest?
-: First of all, for the political class to see that public opinion is not indifferent and to put pressure on the government and the presidency to take the necessary measures.
-: We hope that our forums will wake up and defend the Romanians, stop reaching the statute of limitations, get rid of all the corrupt people.
Protest in front of the Cluj Tribunal
A similar protest also took place in front of the Cluj Tribunal, our correspondent Claudiu Padurean reported.
We remind you that, according to the filmmakers, the Recorder documentary attempts to explain the mechanisms by which the judicial system has come to be, they say, captured by an interest group formed by magistrates and politicians and presents testimonies of former and current magistrates who speak about pressures in the justice system.
