President Nicusor Dan attended the B9 Summit in Vilnius

Romanian President Nicusor Dan attended the B9 Summit with Nordic countries in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Monday.
The meeting prepared for the NATO summit in Hague at the end of the month in terms of the defense and deterrence posture of allies on the Eastern flank, aid for Ukraine and increasing the contribution of European allies.
Reporter: Alina Stanuta - President Nicusor Dan, on his first official visit abroad since taking office, reaffirmed at the B9 Summit Romania's commitment to strengthening NATO at all levels and the alliance's crucial role in ensuring Euro-Atlantic security.
"Romania remains a responsible and active ally on the Eastern flank in the strategic Black Sea area" - the Head of State conveyed, who advocated the continuation of the allies' multidimensional support for Ukraine, an approach that represents an investment in our own security.
He also showed that Romania supports the vital importance of the transatlantic relationship, which remains the foundation of collective defense.
The Bucharest 9 format is an organization established at the initiative of Romania and Poland in November 2015. Its members are Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. It came into being in reaction to Russia's aggressive attitude, especially after the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
NATO secretary-general Mark Rutte, Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelenski and representatives of the Nordic allies - Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland - participated as well.
