Political party leaders have congratulated Nicusor Dan, who according to exit polls has won the Cotroceni seat.

UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor welcomed the victory of independent candidate Nicusor Dan in the presidential elections.

USR interim leader Dominic Fritz pointed out that Nicusor Dan's victory belongs to all of Romania.

Dominic Fritz: Romania has shown an extraordinary democratic immune system and that is why, after the congratulations to Nicusor Dan, first and foremost the thanks belong to all Romanians, to all citizens of this country who came to vote.

On behalf of PNL, Adrian Vestea congratulated all those who turned out to vote, regardless of how they voted, for showing civic sense.

Adrian Vestea: We respectfully welcome the huge turnout of Romanian citizens in the electoral process. It is a demonstration of civic spirit, responsibility and patriotism of all those who voted, regardless of their choice.
