Romania supports US President Donald Trump's peace plan for the Gaza Strip, Foreign Minister Oana Toiu said at the conference presenting the priorities of Cyprus, which has taken over the presidency of the European Union Council.
Oana Toiu emphasized that Romania is one of the few countries in the world that has uninterrupted diplomatic relations with both Israel and Palestine and is prepared to continue contributing to both the peace process and future reconstruction.
Oana Toiu: Romania supports the peace plan for the Gaza Strip, led by President Donald Trump and the team he has created for this purpose.
We support the Security Council's decision that the next step in this peace plan should be the peace board to manage this stage of the process in the Gaza Strip conflict.
What we are now analyzing, both us and many European states and other global partners, is how we see the complementarity or overlap between this initiative and the United Nations in the coming years.
The legal analysis, from the perspective of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has an element of evolution simply because the answer to some of the questions cannot be found in the text as it was submitted.
These questions are part of an ongoing dialogue with the United States, not only at the bilateral level, but also at the European level.
