Nicusor Dan: The amendment to Ukraine's law on dual citizenship was not made to exclude Romania

President Nicusor Dan stated that the legislative amendment recently adopted by Ukraine regarding the acquisition of dual citizenship was not made with the intention of excluding Romania, but out of a desire to resolve the issue of Ukrainians who were forced to emigrate as a result of the war.
The head of state explained that in certain countries it is easier to obtain dual citizenship, and the authorities in Kiev have, in effect, facilitated this possibility.
The law stipulates the conditions under which multiple citizenship can be acquired, as well as the list of countries with which Ukraine accepts dual citizenship agreements.
These are Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, the United States, and Canada, countries where the largest Ukrainian communities abroad live.
Romania is therefore not on the list, and the situation has caused concern among Romanians in Ukraine.
