The emergency ordinance that provides for the extension of the duration of initial training courses for future judges and prosecutors to three years has received a favorable report from the Legal Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, as the first party notified.
During the debates on the normative act, former Minister of Justice, USR deputy Stelian Ion, emphasized that this provision, as well as many others in the legal legislation, should be amended within the working group established at the government to review the justice laws.
Stelian Ion: Maybe, on the occasion of that package, we go over that duration, we all sit around the table and come to the conclusion that it is appropriate to abandon that provision definitively, namely that the duration should be three years. For now, the judicial system is not ready for such a thing and it will take many years until this situation is balanced. I think we should definitely go back to two years.
