The mandate of interim president was taken on in difficult conditions, with a low level of trust in institutions, Ilie Bolojan said as he presented the balance sheet of his 100 days at the helm of state.
He emphasized that, during his time in office, the pillars of the country's foreign policy were Romania's membership of the European Union, NATO and relations with the United States.
Interim President Ilie Bolojan said at the press conference that he anchored foreign and defense policy on two pillars.
He explained that the pillar of European Union membership means new conditions for prosperity, European funds and development.
Regarding NATO membership and the relationship with the United States, Ilie Bolojan said that the alliance is effective and respected, and added that the Romanian-American strategic partnership must be strengthened.
Another important direction was related to internal political stability and institutional dialog, according to the interim president, and he mentioned the collaboration with the government, which was a priority in conditions of high budget deficit.
Ilie Bolojan also referred to the elections and said that they were held in good conditions, with political debates, high turnout and without incidents.
Asked if he would like to become prime minister in the next government, Ilie Bolojan said that the president-elect, Nicusor Dan, would make the appointment, but he said that the conditions for an effective prime minister are, in his opinion, a solid parliamentary majority, authority and a team of professionals in the ministries.
