The government approved, in an extraordinary meeting, the emergency ordinance on local taxes and fees for 2026.
Taxes and fees for next year will be established by December 31, by decision of the Local Council, and at the level of the Capital by the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest.
The next step will be to communicate within three days of the adoption of this project to the public finance departments at local level the established quotas, taxes and fees.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Wednesday that this measure should have been taken for three years, being also a National Recovery and Resilience Plan commitment, but those who were in government did not want to bother. However, for people to continue to benefit from water and sewage works, they must contribute taxes to the locality's income.
Also on Wednesday, the Government approved the supplement of the Ministry of Development's budget by 2.41 billion lei, money that will be used to pay all invoices submitted to the ministry for investment works, including those submitted this month.
According to the Minister of Development, Cseke Attila, by the end of this year there will be no unpaid invoices for any government funding program run by the Ministry of Development.
