UPDATE: An event is taking place at the National Opera in the capital marking two years since the October 2023 terrorist attack committed by Hamas against Israel.
Doctors are invited to discuss the role of doctors in crisis situations and analyze the events that occurred then and their impact on the inhabitants of the affected areas. RRA reporter Adriana Turea has more details.
Reporter: October 7, 2023 is the darkest day for the Israeli people since the establishment of the State of Israel, said the Ambassador of the State of Israel, H.E. Lior Ben Dor. He added that families have been destroyed.
The Ambassador emphasized that they organized this event because they did not forget that there are still soldiers imprisoned in Gaza and hopes that an agreement will be reached in the coming days regarding their release.
The ambassador also explained that Dr. Chen Kugel witnessed the unspeakable atrocities of that day.
The doctor was the one who took on the task of burying the victims of the attack. Dr. Kugel said that, in addition, he had to discover who the victims were and tell their relatives what happened.
In turn, Professor Dr. Catalin Cirstoiu said that in this event they celebrate the relationship between doctors, and not only that.
The two doctors discuss forensic medicine and the role of doctors in crisis situations.
The event aims to recall the stories of the victims, to present what really happened and to show that they are determined to build a better reality.
