Army procurement projects to be carried out through the European defense program SAFE

On Monday, the government publicly presented the army procurement projects that will be carried out with the approximately €16 billion to be borrowed through the European defense program SAFE. The Ministry of Defense will carry out 21 projects, of which 10 will be joint purchases with other countries and 11 will be exclusively for Romania.
Most of the joint projects are with France and Germany, said Minister Radu Miruta.
Radu Miruta: Just a few examples of joint acquisitions. The contract with France for Mistral missiles has already been signed, this has been made public, 652 million euros, there is a joint acquisition with six other countries, there will be 12 H225 helicopters, the newer model, which will be taken from France, there will be 12 radars, again joint acquisitions with France, three air defense systems that will complete the Patriot system, a joint acquisition with Germany, two centralization systems for air defense command, which will be joint acquisitions with Germany, being the country that is the leader in these acquisitions.
The head of the Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, said that the executive wants most of the components included in these projects to be produced in Romania, by public or private companies, according to RRA reporter Andrei Serban.
