The tax on hybrid vehicles will be reduced by 30% starting in 2026, according to a decision adopted on Tuesday by the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest.
The regulatory act maintains the 10% bonus granted to taxpayers who pay their tax obligations in advance.
At the same time, the introduction of a 10 lei tourist tax per night for each visitor staying in the Capital was approved, at the initiative of Deputy Mayor Stelian Bujduveanu.
"This city tax is not an invention of the municipality of Bucharest, it is practiced all over the world. It is paid by those who visit the city, because they benefit from the infrastructure of the parks and the city. The new version of the tax, not a percentage, but a fixed one, helps the hotel industry, because most of them practice packages in different seasons, at different times, and then this tax, if it were a percentage, would perhaps be applied to a higher amount than the real one, which is the actual accommodation for which it is charged. It is a simplification and just like all European and international capitals, this tax must exist and with this money collected /.../ the municipality of Bucharest, through the OMD that will use it, because it will be redirected to the OMD, will bring added value to the city through promotions and through events that it will organize, obviously, for the benefit of the municipality of Bucharest", said Stelian Bujduveanu.
