Animal police could be set up within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Minister Marcel Vela recently confirmed this.

Debates over the Interior Ministry's draft reform, which began in December but was suspended due to the coronavirus, could resume later this month or in July.

The proposals will be analyzed together with animal protection NGOs.

It is not yet known whether only police officers will be part of the new structure.

It is possible that people from the veterinarian domain will be hired.
