Ilie Bolojan: There is no official information on a withdrawal of US troops from the Eastern flank

There are no discussions and no official information about a withdrawal of US troops from NATO's eastern flank, the country's interim president said.

Ilie Bolojan told journalists at the Cotroceni Palace that he had spoken with the Minister of Defense, with whom he agreed to officially communicate a position of the Ministry on this issue.

The acting Head of State recalled that the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, had recently reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to continue all NATO-related projects.

The interim president's reaction comes after the US TV station NBC News reported, citing six European and US officials, that the Pentagon is considering withdrawing up to 10.000 troops from Eastern Europe.
