The Minister of Justice believes that a magistrate is at the peak of their intellectual and professional capacity at the age of 50.
Radu Marinescu made this statement in a televised interview, recalling that the current government program stipulates that the retirement age for prosecutors and judges should be 65.
The Minister of Justice praised magistrates who, after reaching the current minimum retirement age of 48, choose to continue practicing.
Regarding the repeated postponements by the Constitutional Court on raising the retirement age for magistrates and changing the amount of their pensions, the Minister of Justice stated that CCR judges are required by law to refrain from any kind of political contamination and to be objective and impartial.
