Alexandru Nazare: Concrete steps towards OECD membership
Articol de Radiojurnal, 17 Ianuarie 2026, 18:45
Romania has recently taken concrete steps towards its goal of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in 2026, the finance minister writes in an online post.
Alexandru Nazare notes that this is one of Romania's most important strategic objectives this year, comparable in impact to joining NATO and the European Union, and represents a decisive step for how the Romanian state will function in the coming years.
The OECD means clear rules, functioning institutions, and public policies based on data and the experience of developed economies.
In practice, this means a new level of openness and a new stage of development for Romania, says the finance minister, emphasizing the need for consistency, seriousness, and concrete results.
Alexandru Nazare participated this week in a new session to assess Romania's progress in the OECD's Economic Analysis and Development Committee.
