The interim prime minister, Nicolae Ciuca, was decorated today, at the United States Embassy, with the Legion of Merit, in the rank of officer, for his activity as chief of the Defense Staff.
Present at the award ceremony, President Klaus Iohannis said that strengthening and expanding the Strategic Partnership with the United States is a basic pillar of Romania's foreign policy.
The head of state mentioned that there are excellent premises for deepening cooperation on all levels.
"I welcome the significant progress made in recent years in implementing our common vision of an extended, sustainable, dynamic and deeply rooted Strategic Partnership anchored in Euro-Atlantic values, able to respond to the need to manage the risks and threats we face. security, trade, investment and energy security, democracy, the rule of law, human rights and good governance, as well as education, science, research and technology are defining levels on which our Partnership is constantly developing", said the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis.
