Romania supports the EC's proposal to ban oil imports from Russia

Romania supports the European Commission's proposal to ban imports of oil from Russia, President Klaus Iohannis said, adding that the renunciation of Russian oil and gas imports has been under discussion for a long time.

Klaus Iohannis also stated that Romania is prepared for this situation. The subject was also analyzed at the meeting that the president had yesterday in Bucharest with his German counterpart.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier then met with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca at Victoria Palace. The head of government stated on this occasion that Romania is making efforts to diversify energy sources and to increase the capacity to exploit natural gas resources.
