Handball player Ramona Farcău, former member of the women's handball team Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea, finalist of the Champions League, decided to withdraw from the competition activity, at the age of 38.

Farcău, the best scorer in the Women's Handball Tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, wanted to play her last handball game in Râmnicu Vâlcea, in Traian's Sports Hall, the place where she spent seven years, the most important period of her career.

The retreat match played between the 2010 Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea team, with Radu Voina on the technical bench, and the local team HCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, coached by Aurelian Roșca, ended with a score of 26 to 22 for Oltchim.

Ramona Farcău was born in Zalău on July 14, 1979.

Right-hand player, she has been mainly active on the left wing, but she was effective on the right wing as well. In over 200 games, she scored 675 goals.

She was the goalgetter of the Women’s Handball National League in 2005 and, also in 2005, she won the Silver Medal at the World Women's Handball Championship in Russia.
