Festival has opened with an extraordinary concert by The Berliner Philharmoniker.

This year's edition of the festival totals 34 premieres in Romania: 25 artists, including Marion Cotillard, Kirill Petrenko, Mitsuko Uchida and nine world-class orchestras.

The 2019 edition of the George Enescu International Festival awaits its audience at the Palace Hall, the Romanian Athenaeum, the Radio Hall, the Small Palace Hall, at the George Enescu Hall at the National University of Music and the Excelsior Theater at concerts and recitals grouped around six major sections: „Great orchestras of the world", „Midnight Concerts", „Recitals and Chamber Concerts ", „Music of the 21st century ", „Mozart Week in Residence” and „International Composers Forum". There are also various competitions (...) We want the Festival to be noticed and attended all across Bucharest. There are also the internet transmissions that can be viewed from any corner of the country.

Great orchestras of the world will perform at the event: Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Orchestre National de France, Staatskapelle Dresden, Romanian National Youth Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia “Evgeny Svetlanov”, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Romanian National Radio Orchestra& Radio Academic Choir, Orchestra and Choir of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra and Choir o the George Enescu Philharmonic and Vocal Consort Berlin and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Amsterdam), which will close the festival.
