EU wants to maintain provisions of Intergovernmental Nuclear Force Treaty

European Union wants to maintain the provisions of Intergovernmental Nuclear Force Treaty, concluded during the Cold War, said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini at the end of the Bucharest informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. Russia and the United States must respect the commitments in the document, Ms.Mogherini said.
According to RRA Reporter Carmen Gavrilă, topic was debated at the meeting in the context of an expected announcement by US President Donald Trump of his country's exit from the treaty.
Foreign Minister Teodor Meleșcanu said that Eastern Partnership is a priority of Romania’s EU Presidency, and that Bucharest wants an official agreement between EU Member States and the partners to continue this format beyond 2020.
