Paul Stănescu resigned on Monday, 26 November, from his position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration, and his request was submitted to the General Secretariat of the Government.

Stănescu first refused to respond to request for resignation coming from the Social Democratic Party (PSD), which withdrew its political support. In a press release, Paul Stănescu said he never clung to a seat and accepted his mandate because "party leadership insisted on that".

Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă had previously stated that she had requested resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Paul Stănescu, but he refused.

President Klaus Iohannis refused to sign revocation of Paul Stănescu from office, as well as resignation of Transport Minister Lucian Şova.
