Bucharest: Conference on European Social Fund+

Bucharest hosts on Thursday a Conference on European Social Fund+ (ESF+), which will discuss benefits of investing this fund for EU citizens. Event is attended by European Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, Marianne Thyssen.

Over the past decades, several progresses have been registered in terms of gender equality, but true equality between men and women is not yet a reality, nor within, neither outside the EU zone, Commissioner Thyssen said on Wednesday.

EU Commissioner Marianne Thyssen: These differences in employment, pay and pensions are reinforced by a new trend, there is a new overrepresentation of women in all forms of atypical work. This situation not only is bad for women who are in a more precarious position, especially at old age, but is also unfavorable for society as a whole.
