PSD criticises certain provisions in the current form of the European Union budget for the period 2028-2034 which, according to the Social Democrats, would seriously affect Romanian agriculture. The party calls for united opposition from all political forces to defend the interests of Romanian farmers.
The Social Democrats reject the idea of setting up a common fund to finance European policies, including agriculture, as well as capping subsidies regardless of the area cultivated. They also point out that doubling the co-financing percentage — from 15% to 30% — would put additional pressure on the national budget and reduce access to European funds. PSD is calling for a debate on this issue, coordinated by the President of Romania.
