Interim President Ilie Bolojan will decorate Gheorghe Hagi with the state's highest honor

The interim President of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, will decorate on Wednesday former international player Gheorghe Hagi with the National Order of the Star of Romania.

It is the Romanian state's highest distinction, awarded in recognition and appreciation for his entire sporting career, the Presidential Administration said.

Another reason for the decoration is Hagi's involvement in popularizing football among the younger generation.

Gheorghe Hagi is a role model and a source of inspiration for all generations, says the Presidency.

This is borne out by his outstanding performances over the years with the national football team and with prestigious international clubs.

Last but not least, the current coach has demonstrated his dedication and professionalism, which he has put to the service of promoting Romanian sport and Romania's image in the world.
