Radio Romania Chamber Orchestra celebrates, on Wednesday, November 1st, the Day of the Romanian Public Radio with a concert-event under the baton of conductor Radu Popa.
89 years ago, the Romanian Public Radio was broadcasting the first sound signal on November 1, 1928, and also in November the same year took place the first concert of the orchestra that later became the National Radio Orchestra, under the baton of legendary conductor Mihail Jora. Since then, Radio Romania has become a landmark of journalism professionalism and a constant supporter of classical music and culture.
Nearly 90 years after the first radio concert, Radio Orchestras and Chorus mark this special anniversary with two concerts at the Radio Hall.
The first concert is that of the Radio Chamber Orchestra, on November 1, at 19:00, an event that proposes a Mozart celebration, with three famous operas: Symphony No. 21 in A Major, Concerto for Violin and orchestra No. 7 in D Major and Symphony No. 40 in G minor. Violinist Cristina Anghelescu, concert soloist of Radio Orchestras and Choirs, will be the protagonist of the evening.
The second concert on the agenda of the Radio anniversary, which has already become a tradition in the Radio Hall, is that of the National Radio Orchestra on Friday, November 3, at 19:00, conducted by Cristian Oroşanu, with cellist Alexander Buzlov as a special guest.
