Parents who live in Bucharest can find, starting Tuesday, schools their children belong to, simply by accessing the website of Bucharest School Inspectorate.

Bucharest School Inspectorate has published on the Internet the latest specifications of Education Ministry regarding the enrollment within the preparatory class and first class, in the 2012-2013 school year.

Apart from the specifications regarding children’s enrollment in schools, the site offers to parents a search engine which allows them to find the school their children belong to , depending on address.

In order to see in what school district they are, the parents have to introduce in the search engine either the street they are living, or the name of the education unit.

If the location is not found in any school district from Bucharest, the parents will have to address to the Bucharest School Inspectorate, until February the 24th, by a written request.
Also, children’s parents who were not reviewed within the period January the 30th –February the 18th will address to the education unit in whose school district is ascribed the home location in order to be taken notice of.

If the preschoolers are not found in the records of that education unit, their tuition within the 2012-2013 school year will be made over the free positions at the Bucharest municipality level.

Preparatory class, compulsory for the children who turn 6 years

The education ministry introduces, starting September 2012, the preparatory class.

This will be compulsory for all children who, by August the 31st 2012, will have turned 6 years or, in special cases, those who will have this age by December the 31st 2012.

The pupils will not give any tests, there will not exist any grades or qualifying, and they will not support any exams for the enrollment, according to the ministry.

The purpose of the new measure is to prepare the pupils for the first class, who will gather information through specific methods and materials for their age.

The preparatory class would assure a gradual passing from kindergarten to school, as the children learn by playing and at the same time they get familiar with the school atmosphere.

The ministry sustains that, within the preparatory class, the children will develop the ability to communicate, will learn to observe the environment and to interact with the other children and also with the adults by playing didactical games, team activities, discovering activities, drawing, music and other methods which will be presented in detail to parents in the following period.

The measure, provided by the Education Law, is necessary “as Romania has nowadays the oldest school population from Europe at the beginning of compulsory education and through this measure is followed the normal passing from playing to learning”, declared for Mediafax the Education Minister Daniel Funeriu.
