War Veterans Recognition Campaign

The Ministry of National Defense organizes, in partnership with the "Along with Heroes" Association and with the "Comrades" Charity Association of the Romanian Army, together with representatives of the business environment and civil society, a series of events dedicated to War Veterans Day - April 29 , in Bucharest and in all the major garrisons in the country.
Thus, on Wednesday, April 20, the campaign "War Veterans Recognition" will be launched by organizing the show "Faith and Honor", supported by the Representative Orchestra of the Ministry of National Defense and the Choir "Tronos" of the Romanian Patriarchate, at the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca, starting at 19.00. A second performance of the show will take place on Thursday, April 21, at 8 pm, at the Bucharest National Opera, both events taking place in the presence of the Minister of National Defense, Vasile Dincu.
The campaign will run for several days and will include visits to war veterans, activities related to the Romanian Army's participation in World War II, as well as meetings of the Ministry of National Defense leadership with war veterans.
On the website https://veteraniiromaniei.mapn.ro, which includes pages dedicated to World War II veterans, life stories will be posted, as well as testimonies and personal experiences, information about the events included in the campaign program.
An important action of the campaign is the distribution of gift packages on the occasion of the Easter holidays and the War Veterans Day (April 29) for all 1748 war veterans and 43 war widows in Romania, as well as for the four veterans of the Republic Moldova.
The "War Veterans Recognition" campaign will culminate on Friday, April 29, with the organization of military ceremonies for laying wreaths or bouquets, in the country and abroad, at commemorative works, cemeteries and monuments honoring the sacrifice of fallen Romanian soldiers in World War II.
On April 29, every year, War Veterans Day is celebrated, established by Government Decision no. 1222/2007. Military and religious ceremonies will take place at World War II heroes' monuments in all garrisons across the country, as well as solemn gatherings of war veterans' associations, performances and activities to care for heroes' monuments and cemeteries, according to a MApN statement.
