Romania treats the Brexit dossier with particular attention in view of the significant Romanian community in the UK. Romania will continue to carefully follow the way in which the provisions of the Brexit Agreement are implemented, so that all Romanian citizens residing in the UK can continue to live, work and study in the same conditions as before - Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said on Tuesday during the meeting at Victoria Palace with European Union’s Chief Negotiator for Brexit, Michel Barnier, on official visit to Bucharest.

Romanian Prime Minister reconfirmed the importance of maintaining the unity of the 27 Member States around the fundamental principles governing the negotiation process and the guidelines adopted by the European Council.

Talks between the two officials has focused on the state of negotiations between the European Union and UK and has highlighted the very good level of cooperation between the Romanian authorities and the taskforce led by Michel Barnier, especially in view of Romania's takeover of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first semester of 2019.
