Vadu beach attracts more and more tourists

Vadu beach, north of Navodari, attracts more and more tourists.

Most of them choose such a place because they love nature and protect it.

However, not everyone knows that they are in a protected natural area, where certain rules must be respected.

Any waste left behind, from an empty soda can to a cigarette butt, has effects over time.

The non-governmental organization Mare Nostrum, very active in environmental issues in Romania, launched this summer the project called "VADURabil".

In a broader framework, the ecologists from Constanta want to prove that the development of the locality and the protection of nature are not mutually exclusive, and their initiative also has a specific section addressed to tourists who camp on the wild beach. Andreea Ionascu is the project manager.

Andreea Ionascu: Our volunteers, together with some of the employees, went to the beach this summer to talk to the tourists and, more than that, distributed project materials to them: cup holders, portable ashtrays, because we know that they are useful, garbage bags, so that we help them keep the beach clean, and the volunteers also talked to them a little about the uniqueness of the place, about the fauna, about the flora, why it is a protected area and what is unique about it. So far we have had very good responses. Foreign tourists have been very open, but also the Romanian ones, who were very pleased to learn about the project. Some didn't know it was a protected area so they really appreciated everything we told them.
