V. Popescu: Gas imports from Azerbaijan, a viable alternative source

Gas imports from Azerbaijan, through the new Greek-Bulgarian interconnector inaugurated today, will represent a viable alternative source from now on, says the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, present, together with the Prime Minister of Romania, at the launch event, and also with other regional an european leaders and representatives of companies operating in the energy sector from the states directly interested in the project.

The completion of the Greece-Bulgarian interconnector is a very important step for the energy market in the region, but also a public statement through which we demonstrate that together we offer a categorical answer: we do not allow energy to be used as a weapon of blackmail, writes the energy minister in a post on the internet.
